Four Great Podcasts to Help you Make Money Online

Here are my favourite podcasts related to creating an online business and successful blog. Every single week these podcasts offers great tips, ideas and tools to improve your online business.

Why You Should Listen to Podcasts

If you don’t normally listen to podcasts, I recommend giving them a try. I never used to listen because I can’t get any computer work done and pay attention at the same time.

My wife, on the other hand, listens to podcasts for hours a day. She listens when she goes to the gym, cooks or cleans, goes to bed and when she commutes or travels.

She is Japanese, so she listens to English podcasts to improve her language ability.  Also, when traveling to a new country she downloads language learning podcasts for some introductory phrases. It helps a lot!

Recently, I have been making a more concerted effort to listen to podcasts while running or taking public transportation. I now see why my wife listens for so many hours a day. I love music, but it is also great make more productive use of time away from a computer.

My Favourite Make Money Online Podcasts

Here are my four favourite podcasts chosen for the consistent value they offer. Listen regularly and you will find a steady stream of ideas.

Dan and Ian are based out of Bali and run a million dollar business selling all types of products and services. They started the TropicalMBA which brings paid interns to Bali or the Philippines to work on cool projects and learn all about making money online. They also run the popular Dynamite Circle Forum where other online entrepreneurs can share ideas and network. These guys are all about growing businesses and are definitely people you should follow. Here is my interview with Dan.

Pat Flynn is a superstar in the make money online niche. He openly shares his income reports every month so you can see exactly how he makes his money, and he definitely makes money. Last month, May 2012, he made more than $58,000. His entire site is a fantastic learning resource. I highly recommend checking out his How to Build a Niche Site and The Backlinking Strategy that Works pages. They are fantastic resources for anyone looking to get more traffic to a website. Here is my interview with Pat.

BlogcastFM

Srinivas Rao has very extensive interviews successful bloggers. He digs down deep to find out exactly what made their blogs popular and injects his own experiences. This is essential listening for bloggers. He has interview more than 200 people and many of them are the top bloggers in the world.

Justin Cooke and Joe Magnotti are two entrepreneurs based out of the Philippines who are building an online empire. They make dozens and dozens of new niche sites every month. The shear quantity of the sites they create has forced them to create effective processes that can be handed over to inexpensive outsourced staff. This is important information! Great businesses are built on great systems and processes.

Unlike many of the spammy make money online sites, Justin and Joe give all their content away for free. It is a fantastic business model. The build awareness and trust with amazing content and make their money selling profitable niche websites. Even if you are not interested in building niche sites, the podcasts and posts offer valuable information on outsourcing, running an online business and getting traffic to websites. This is what every online business should aspire to. Build traffic and trust with a blog and podcast, then sell valuable products to your audience.

  1. Justin says:

    Hey, John…thanks for the mention!

We’re fans of the other podcasts listed as well. Another one I’d add (if you don’t listen already) is Andrew Warner’s Mixergy. I just started listening a few weeks ago and am really impressed.

    • John says:

      Hi Justin,
Thanks for the comment. That was very quick. I used to listen to Mixergy but I stopped for some reason. I will give it a try again.

  2. Kevin says:

Good selection John. I’m already a listener to LBP and Blogcast FM. The other two are new to me – I’ll give them a try.

There’s another one I think surely deserves a mention: FreedomOcean podcast, presented by two Aussie online marketing guys James Schramko and Tim Reid. They’re at http://www.freedomocean.com.

    I wrote a short post about them – http://www.breakingout.net/business-ideas/take-a-tcruiserip-out-on-freedom-ocean/

Brilliant series and completely free of charge. Concentrates very much on online marketing practicalities and tells it like it is.

  3. Grace Henley says:

Great list John, I listen to all of them except Blogcast FM. I’m downloading a few of his episodes as I type. As a fellow Aussie I second Kevin and +1 Freedom Ocean.

  4. These are four great podcasts, definitely. I also used to listen to Mixergy but stopped. To be honest, his podcasts took much longer to download and we had some shady internet and I just didn’t have the patience. I should start listening again, too. I’m also a fan of the Social Triggers podcast with Derek Halpern and the only woman in the space who I actually really like is Anna Farmery who runs The Engaging Brand (though she focuses as much on offline). I learn at least one thing from her every time. More people should share their fav podcasts more often – I’m a huge fan and love finding new ones!

    • John says:

      Hey Jess,

Thanks for the suggestions. SocialTriggers.com is a brilliant site for internet marketing, I will have to check out Derek’s podcast.

I look forward to your interview!
